What's in a name?

As I was filling out the baby's baby book this evening I started to really think about the name we have chosen for him, William Wayne Patrick. He will be named after two great men in our lives, our grandfathers. We tossed around all sorts of "trendy" names and just could not decide on any. I then made my feelings known about how I have always wanted to honor my Grandpa, William Lyman. He was in my life for a relatively short time but that makes no difference in the special place he has in my heart. I was ecstatic when Dustin said he like William, (who we will call Will) as a first name. In the very next breath he said, "What about Wayne for his middle name?" I knew immediately that the decision was made. Dustin's Grandpa Wayne has been a huge part in his life. I remember him telling me once that his Grandpa was one of his best friends. Wayne is a great man and I feel blessed to have him in my life now as well. So it was settled, William Wayne Patrick. If our little man grows to be even half the man either of his namesakes were/are, we will be two very lucky parents indeed!!!

Well here goes nothing.

After much contemplation I have decided to join the world of bloggers. I am hoping that this blog will serve a few purposes. First and foremost, I am hoping that it will help all of our family and friends across the country feel as though they aren't that far away from us, and more importantly our soon to be son!!  Second of all, it was brought to my attention (thanks Keana) that this will be an easy way to keep track of lots of stories and happenings throughout our son's life without jamming up everyone's facebook. Now, if  you hear all the stories and see the pictures it's because you clicked the link and wanted to!!! Here's to hoping that I can keep up on this after the baby gets here! Please bear with me as I learn the ins and outs of this (I'm not that website savvy).
